The Decoy That Worked Better

I was hesitant to write this at first, on account of how our last decoy episode went in regards for our quest to have some alone time from Doodle (or, at the very least, a bathroom break now and then). But, it seems that we have indeed come up with a decoy that is convincing enough to Doodle that we can leave her alone for a little bit.

Last Christmas, we made large "just-my-size" dolls for our kiddos. The vintage kind, you know?

Thankfully, we made them to be similar to certain family members in skin tone and hair colour. Because, it turns out, the recipe to a good night's sleep is as simple as this: First, dress a doll with dark hair up in a used red t-shirt that still smells like Doodle's primary babysitter. Second, set it on a game chair beside Doodle's brooder. Third, with particular attention to detail, set an open laptop upon its knees. Congratulations, you now have a decoy that pulls the wool over Doodle's eyes. This one's been working for a week straight now!

Obviously, it doesn't pass Doodle's famous are-you-alive check, but she has taken to sleeping longer through the night, so that's not as much of an issue anymore. Whenever we need to get away, we set up the Doodle Decoy, and voila! Happy Doodle, happy humans.
