Captain Freakout

You know that awkward moment when you name a pet, thinking it's a girl, but then it turns out it's a boy and the name just doesn't fit any more? Doodle worked out okay, because Doodle's a very neutral sort of name. It could fit a girl just as well as a boy.

Chibi, on the other hand... I dunno. It just sounds like a girl's name to me.

What ho? Something's amiss!

That's okay. The little guy I used to call Chibi worked out a new name for himself. I hereby dub him Captain Freakout. He comes by this name honestly. Since he was very little, he started this thing where he can be totally chill and relaxed, and all the other turkeys are a-okay, and suddenly for absolutely no reason at all he pops his little head up and cries out, "The kingdom is lost!"

And so everyone panics. Or they used to. They've gotten used to his antics now days and just casually continue about their business. Yeah, yeah, Cappy, we know. Kingdom's lost. Scary-scary. Not really. We don't believe you any more.

Cappy's not too far a cry from Chibi. But it's more manly. So Captain Freakout is his name-o.

He's getting such a lovely pattern in his feathers. I wonder if he'll keep that mottled look?

It almost looks like a pencilled palm. But he didn't look
like a pencilled palm as a baby. Guess we wait and see.

Another... ahem... interesting quirk of Cappy's is just how very social he is. I noticed when he first arrived that he is super affectionate. He loves to preen everybody all the time. He's also a bit dopey. And he always wants to have his face in whatever anybody else is doing. Particularly Pastel. I think he might have a crush on her. He's like one of those nerdy types who falls for the mean girl. He follows her around everywhere and she acts like she doesn't even know he's alive.

Once upon a time she chickenscratch-kicked him out of her way.
That's okay. He knows what she meant to say was "I love
you will you marry me."
